The Director of Forest Restoration Operations and Biomass Utilization (DFO) is responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all the ERI’s forest operations and biomass utilization programs in accordance with the ERI and NAU strategic plans and annual work plans set out by the organization. As a member of the senior management team, the DFO participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives; works collaboratively to develop outreach strategies to meet goals; supports on-going ERI research and outreach on federal, state, tribal, and private lands; and will assist in the development of forest operations and wood utilization innovation strategies. Collaboration and program leadership with all federal and state land management agencies, industry partners, the public, and other affected organizations is paramount in accomplishing implementation of the forest operations and biomass utilization campus at NAU. He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the ERI and Northern Arizona University and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

National Wildlife Federation: You can search for jobs, internships, fellowships, and volunteer opportunities. Internship opportunities are nationwide and in the areas of conservation, education, fundraising, communications, legal work, and publications.

Government Jobs:

Want to work for the National Park Service, the Forest Service or the BLM? The place to look for all of those jobs, and more, is usajobs.gov!

Applying for jobs on usajobs.gov can be a little tricky. It is highly recommended that you read up on some tips before creating a profile:

State Jobs: Also consider looking into state jobs! Most states have a website where state jobs, including jobs in state parks, are listed.

Love working outdoors but tired of swinging a pick all day? There are tons of opportunities that will get you outside! Consider working with a guiding program, working at a resort, working as an environmental educator, or working at a summer camp.

Backdoor Jobs: has listings for short-term adventure jobs and international opportunities.

Coolworks: Jobs in great places! Features short-term jobs, summer jobs, and non-government jobs within many national parks.

Outdoor Industry Jobs: Includes winter sports, bike industry, and flyfishing jobs, as well as many others!

Outdoor Ed: A list of current outdoor education jobs.

Resort Jobs: Features worldwide resort jobs with ski and snowboard resorts, camps, national parks, cruise ships, restaurants and hotels

NOLS Alumni E-mail List: specifically for alumni of a NOLS course or a Wilderness Medicine Institute course, but a great resource for outdoor jobs.

Non Profit Jobs:

Idealist.com: A job search engine for non profit jobs across the country.

Nonprofit-jobs.org: Listings of current non profit openings.

Indeed.com: A more general job search engine, but a great way to search for jobs by region or interest, and can be filtered to show non profit openings.

Also, if you are a current or former college student don't be afraid to reach out to your college's career center! Most colleges and universities have folks on staff who can sit down with you and help you build or edit your resume.
